With “Alex”, “Alex” and “Sam”, there are three separate entries. Each has a one-in-three chance. The displayed name “Alex” therefore has a two-in-three total chance. Excluding one Alex does not exclude the other.
Need everyone on a team?
The random team generator assigns every entry once and keeps team headcounts within one of each other. It does not automatically transfer your private list.
A few useful answers
Can I spin without picking the same entry again?
Yes. Choose Remove winner before you start. Each picked entry is removed from this round’s eligible set by its internal ID. Start a new round makes all entries eligible again; Clear history does not.
What happens when two people have the same name?
Both lines remain separate entries. Add a distinguishing label yourself when you need to tell people apart. With Alex, Alex and Sam, each line has a one-in-three chance; the text Alex has a two-in-three combined chance. Remove duplicates only when that is what you intend.
Why did my large list stop showing a wheel?
Lists with more than 24 eligible entries use a simple result view rather than unreadable slices. The full list remains available. This changes the display, not the eligible entries or their probabilities.
Does skipping the animation change the result?
No. The result is committed before the animation begins. Show result now, reduced motion, and recovering a committed result after a refresh do not run another draw.
Can I save or print the results?
Use Save, import & backups to save a reusable list on this browser or export a JSON backup. Result controls can copy, download or print selected results. These outputs may contain names. No account or cloud storage is provided.
Is this a certified draw for valuable prizes?
No. This is a browser-local organizer’s tool. The operator controls the input and can edit local files. It does not provide independent supervision, identity checks or evidence that a draw was not manipulated.
